Relations with Catholics, Islam key issues for new WCC leader
August 28, 2009
Geneva (ENI). The newly-elected general secretary of the World Council of Churches has said that relations with the Roman Catholic Church and with Islam are two key issues for the Geneva-based church grouping. "I would like to continue the WCC's strong relations with the Roman Catholic Church and make them even stronger," the Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit, a 48-year-old ordained pastor in the Church of Norway, told journalists after his election in Geneva on 27 August.
