EKD-Internet-Award

Deadlines and Evaluation Criteria

Application
Applications for the EKD-Internet WebFish Award can be made from the beginning of September until 31st December every year. All providers have the possibility of submitting their Internet contribution (together with a brief description) using the interactive form to be found under http://www.webfish.de/. Applications can only be made using the online form. Other forms of application (e.g. e-mail, fax) cannot be considered. All the applications received are sent to all the members of the jury via a mailing list. The jury then extensively tests and assesses the contributions.

Nomination
The nomination phase begins in mid-January: The jury meets to review all the contributions again and to select the best 10. Evaluation is based on the worded and known competition criteria. The 10 contributions selected are published on the Internet under http://www.webfish.de/. During the following nomination phase, all Internet users can vote for which website they would like to see win the first prize. This vote can only be made using an Internet voting form. The votes of the Internet users are evaluated as one jury vote.

In mid-February the jury decides which are the best three of the 10 nominated contributions. The winners are published on the Internet. Prizes are the WebFish in gold (1,500 euros), in silver (1,000 euros) and in bronze (500 euros).

Special awards
Since the 7th competition in 2002/2003 there have been a further 2 special prizes which can be awarded by the jury if appropriate but are not necessarily awarded every year.

a) “Innovation” WebFish
The “Innovation” WebFish will be awarded to an Internet contribution which does not meet all the specified criteria but has achieved a pioneering and excellent “innovation”. It is worth 500 euros.

b) WebFish “Special Prize”
The WebFish “Special Prize” goes to an Internet contribution which does not meet all the specified criteria but is seen to be on “the right path”. Linked with the prize is the offer of free consultation by an agency to optimise the website.

Until the prize is awarded again the following year the winners can use the WebFish logo on their Internet pages (with a link to the competition http://www.webfish.de/). The usage agreement for the WebFish logo on the www pages can be withdrawn if the Internet contribution of the prizewinner(s) contradicts the witness and service of the churches united in the Association of Christian Churches (ACK).

All winners are requested to send their contribution to the EKD on a CD-ROM for the purpose of documentation.
