Welcome to the EKD-Quiz:

The 500th Anniversary of Philipp Melanchthon

T h e    "T e a c h e  r    o  f  G e r m a n y "

While 1996 was the 450th anniversary of Martin Luther's death, we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Philipp Melanchthon in 1997. Along with Martin Luther, Melanchthon was the most important German reformer. Melanchthon is not quite as well-known as Luther. However, he was the most important and most steadfast companion of Luther in Wittenberg. Although it was important to commemorate Luther last year, it may be even more important to remember Melachthon's life and deeds in context with the reformation in Germany and help him emerge from the shadow of Martin Luther.

Numerous events will accompany the Melanchthon Year that was kicked off officially in Wittenberg on October 31, 1996. We have put together a quiz that is a little more demanding than the Luther quiz (follow the links, if you don't know an answer...) and with a few penal rounds for wrong answers. Have fun guessing and playing....
